English Classes

Aberdeen International Centre is very pleased to offer English classes which are free of charge. Our classes are taught at beginners, intermediate and advanced levels and are taken by our dedicated team of experienced volunteer teachers and assistants. Classes are scheduled every week on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. 

Our English classes have been running for a number of years. The project was originally started by one of our Directors, Mo, and a few volunteer teachers and has grown tremendously over time. AIC's English classes are now very popular within the Aberdeen immigrant community and students largely find out about them by word of mouth. (Mo, please correct if this info is not quite right!!!!!)

Not only do our classes help students to improve their linguistic skills, they also seek to advance their understanding of British culture, history, politics and society. 

Our teachers are frequently turned to for help and advice by students and therefore provide an outstanding service that truly surpasses language education. In addition, our teachers have organised excursions that expand their students' social opportunities.  

Many of our former students have returned to our classes in order to further their language skills following periods of living in their home countries. 

We wish to thank our volunteer teachers Anne, Christine, Duncan, Kelly Ann, Moray, Stephanie and Steve for their continued hard work and commitment to conducting these classes and we would like to acknowledge Jean and Mo's efforts behind the scenes without whose organizational skills these classes would not be possible. A very big 'thank you' goes to Sarina Griffiths from Aberdeen City Council who has been instrumental in securing funding for this project.
