Some of our services
Advice, Information and Support
AIC provides advice, information and support to community groups and individuals. This may, for example, include help with applying for funding, organising a suitable venue for meetings and cultural events, seeking information, referrals to other service providers or individuals, providing information relating to childcare, education and health facilities, victim support, asylum and immigration etc.
Drop-In Facility
The AIC runs a drop-in facility from 10.00 AM to 3.00 PM every Monday to Thursday and from 9.30 AM to 1 PM on Fridays for people who want to talk to our staff members or who simply would like to chat to somebody on an informal basis.
Research and Consultation
The AIC is involved in many research projects relating to ethnic minorities. We have a vast database of community groups and individuals whom we can contact for focus groups and in depth interviews.
The AIC not only facilitates research activities but also seeks feedback and actions taken after these studies. These results are then communicated to community groups.
If you want to know more about these studies, please contact us.
Partnership meetings and consultations
The AIC is involved in a number of forums and partnership meetings which are designed to bring issues relating to ethnic minorities in Aberdeen to the forefront. These partnerships look at possible and effective ways to deal with issues in consultation with communities and service providers.
For more information please contact us.
Individual cases
The Aberdeen International Centre deals with individual cases and works on behalf of many clients with different agencies such as employment tribunals, housing providers, universities and colleges etc. Some cases do of course require specialist knowledge and in these cases, the AIC acts as a referral service ensuring that individuals are engaging with the most appropriate organisations
Cultural events
The AIC also organise many cultural events which are designed to raise awareness and bring harmony amongst different communities. In the year 2002, the AIC organised a Multicultural Extravaganza / Fashion Show, an International Communities Marquee at Duthie Park on Her Majesty Queen's Golden Jubilee visit to Aberdeen and participated in the Multi Cultural Street Carnival.Lions club
As opportunities arise the AIC will invite communities to take part and show their cultural diversity and richness. Information will be displayed on this website and will be disseminated to ethnic groups and individuals via the ICs mailing system.
